WIRE TECHNICIAN INFORMATION

 

I WANT TO PROVIDE YOU WITH SOME IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONCERNING REQUISITIONS AND TESTING. I AM AWARE THAT SOME OF YOU HAVE BEEN RECEIVING CONFLICTING INFORMATION AND OR ADVICE. HOPEFULLY AFTER READING THIS YOU WILL KNOW WHAT IS REQUIRED OF YOU TO BID AND OR TRANSFER ON OPEN REQUISITIONS.

 

I WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU GOT THE INFORMATION AND HAD THE SAME EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AS THE NEXT TECHNICIAN.

 

BELOW I HAVE LISTED BULLET POINTS THAT SHOULD ASSIST YOU IN TESTING, BIDDING, AND OR TRANSFERRING.

 

1)     INTERNAL TECHNICIANS, THAT BEING YOU AND ANY OTHER TITLED TECHNICIAN CAN NOT BID ON ANY POSTED EXTERNAL REQUISITION.

 

2)     THE CURRENT EXTERNAL POSTED REQUISITIONS FOR AN INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN IS ACTUALLY A REQUISITION FOR A WIRE TECHNICIAN.

 

3)     IF YOU SEE A REQUISITION ON THE EXTERNAL SITE THAT IS A TEMPORARY JOB POSTING. EXAMPLE: TEMPORARY OPT AND OR FT. WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THE INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN IS A REGULAR FULL TIME POSITION.

 

4)     WHEN YOU A WIRE TECHNICIAN HIRED ON WITH AT&T YOU HAD TO QUALIFY WITH A TMFT II TEST. CURRENTLY IF YOU WANT TO BID ON A REQUISITION FOR AN OPT, ST, OR FT YOU MUST TAKE THE TMT III TEST TO QUALIFY AND BE CONSIDERED FOR THE OPENING. IF YOU WANT TO BID ON A DT OR ET YOU MUST TAKE THE TKT II TO QUALIFY AND BE CONSIDERED FOR THE OPENING.

 

5)     IF THERE ARE ANY WIRE TECHNICIAN’S THAT WERE LAID OFF, THEY NEED TO REFER TO SECTION 6.05 (PG 340) OF THE WORKING AGREEMENT. “EMPLOYEES WHO ARE LAID OFF WITH SATISFACTORY ATTENDANCE AND WORK PERFORMANCE AND WHO APPLY FOR RE-EMPLOYMENT TO THE SAME POSITION FROM WHICH THEY WERE LAID OFF, WILL RECEIVE PRIORITY CONSIDERATION FOR REHIRE OVER NEW APPLICANTS FOR TWENTY-FOUR (24) MONTHS FROM HIS/HER LAYOFF DATE.”  

 

6)     I WANT ANY INTERESTED WIRE TECHNICIAN THAT IS WANTING TO TRANSFER TO A LOCATION WHERE THERE ARE PENDING EXTERNAL REQUISITIONS TO REFER TO SECTION 6.01 TRANSFER (PG 338) OF THE WORKING AGREEMENT.”THE COMPANY MAY, IN ITS DISCRETION, HIRE EMPLOYEES OFF THE STREET OR FROM OUTSIDE OF THE BARGAINING UNIT TO FILL VACANCIES IN THE NETWORK ADDENDUM – UFO. HOWEVER, IF THE COMPANY DETERMINES THAT A VACANCY IS TO BE FILLED FROM WITHIN THE NETWROK ADDENDUM – UFO, IT WILL POST A NOTICE OF THE VACANCY. REGULAR FULL TIME EMPLOYEES WITH AT LEAST THIRTY (30) MONTHS OF TIME IN TITLE, UNLESS WAIVED BY THE COMPANY, WHO HAVE SATISFACTORY ATTENDANCE AND WORK PERFORMANCE MAY APPLY FOR THE VACANCY.”

 

7)     I HAVE A SUGGESTION TO ANY WIRE TECHNICIAN THAT IS WANTING TO TRANSFER TO AN AREA WHERE THERE ARE OPENINGS OR POSTINGS FOR WIRE TECHNICIANS. SEND AN E-MAIL TO THE 2nd LEVEL MANAGER. ALSO COPY (CC) YOUR FORMAN AND THE CWA LOCAL IN THAT AREA. ADVISE HIM OF YOUR NAME, UID, WORK TELEPHONE NUMBER, AND YOUR WORK LOCATION AND THAT YOU ARE INTERESTED IN TRANSFERRING TO THE RESPECTIVE LOCATION.
